A good cigar gift says you paid attention. Hombre samplers and gift boxes are being designed to introduce a smoker to a range of styles, or to give a seasoned enthusiast something worth saving for a special evening. Recipients must be adults 21 and older.
Buying a full box of cigars you have never tried is a gamble. A sampler lets you test several sizes, strengths and wrappers before you commit, which is how most smokers discover what they actually like. You may find that a thick, mellow cigar suits you better than the full-bodied one you assumed you wanted.
The Hombre sampler concept is built around that discovery. Each assortment is planned to show contrast: a gentler cigar next to a richer one, a shorter format next to a longer one, a light wrapper next to a dark one. Smoke them in order across a few weeks and keep notes. By the end you will know your own taste better than any label could tell you.
A sampler is also an inexpensive way to settle a family argument. If two people at your table disagree about whether they prefer creamy or peppery, put three of each in front of them and let the cigars decide. Taste is easier to discuss when everyone has the same cigar in hand.
Gift boxes are a different job. The person opening the box matters more than the cigars inside, and the box has to work whether the recipient is a lifelong smoker or someone who lights up twice a year. We plan to offer boxes aimed at both, with a card that explains what is inside in plain language.
A few things we think a good gift box should do:
Presentation matters as much as selection. A gift box should look worth giving the moment it is lifted out of the shipping carton, with a clean layout, a short note and nothing that feels like an afterthought. We will write the notes ourselves, in plain language and without the jargon that makes newer smokers feel like outsiders.
The hardest cigar gift to buy is for an enthusiast. They have opinions, a humidor and a long memory. Our advice is to stop trying to impress them with rarity and instead give something thoughtful, well presented and honestly described. A curated box from a new brand also gives them something they have not tried, which is its own kind of gift.
If you are unsure about their taste, ask what they smoked last, or glance at the size of cigar they reach for. A smoker who favors long, slow cigars will enjoy a larger format. Someone who smokes between meetings may prefer shorter ones. The guide to cigar sizes helps you read those clues.
Cigars are agricultural products, and they change with the air around them. A gift box that sits in a dry drawer for weeks is not doing the cigars any favors. We will include storage guidance with boxes, and we suggest recipients without a humidor read our storage guide and consider our humidors and accessories.
If you want the gift to keep going, a monthly cigar club membership turns a single present into a recurring one.
One more practical point for gift givers: do not leave a cigar gift in a hot car, a sunny window or a cold garage. Heat and dryness are the enemies of a cigar, and the moment you hand it over, its care becomes the recipient's job. A short note on the card about where to keep it goes a long way.
Samplers and gift boxes are part of our launch plan and are not yet on sale. We will announce contents, formats and ordering details only when they are real. Join the Humidor List and choose Gift box to be notified.
Every recipient must be 21 or older, and we will verify age. Cigars are tobacco products with health risks, and a gift is not an endorsement of smoking for anyone who does not already choose it. Rules for shipping tobacco, including who may receive it, vary by state and carrier, and we will confirm what applies before any order is placed.
Not yet. They are part of our launch plan, and we will announce contents and ordering details when they are ready. Join the Humidor List and select Gift box to hear first.
No. Cigars are for adults 21 and older, and the recipient must meet that requirement. We will verify age as part of ordering.
Include storage guidance with the gift or point them to our storage guide. A humidor is also a useful second gift, and we are planning accessories to match.
That is one of the cases we are designing for. Boxes aimed at occasional smokers will lean toward gentler strengths and come with clear notes on each cigar.
Be first to hear about launch releases, gift boxes and club openings. Adults 21 and older only.
